How to Build a Pallet Garden

What you will need:
- Pallet
- Landscape fabric
- Soil
- Staple gun & staples
- Plants
It is best to use a heat treated pallet. You can tell if yours has been heat treated by looking for an HT stamp. Otherwise, the pallet may have been chemically treated.
Use a soil intended for containers or raised beds to ensure proper drainage.
How to make your garden:
1. Check your pallet
Clean your pallet, remove any nails sticking out, sand any rough areas, and secure loose boards if necessary
2. Measure your landscape fabric

Measure the length, width, and depth of your pallet.
To determine the length of your ground cover add the depth + length + depth + 4 inches.
To determine the width of your ground cover add the depth + width+ depth + 4 inches.
This will give you extra fabric to secure the fabric to the top of the pallet.
Check out the video below for more details!
3. Cut your landscape fabric

Cut the fabric to your determined measurements.
4. Attach your landscape fabric
First place your pallet face down near wherever you want it to be when it's finished.
Using your staple gun, staple the fabric to the bottom and sides of your pallet.
When you finish with the bottom, flip the pallet over and staple the edges of the fabric to the top.
*Staple anywhere soil may fall out.*

5. Fill your pallet
Fill your pallet with soil. Make sure to fill the pallet completely.
Helpful tip: You can use a broom to sweep the dirt into the openings of the pallet

6. Time to plant!
Place your plants in the spaces of the pallet. Be sure to cover the roots!
